Improve new key competences (in general) and digital competences (in particular) among educators

We are happy to announce the successful completion of the focus groups conducted as part of WP2

Purpose and Participants

The focus groups aimed to explore and assess the digital skills, challenges, and needs of 50 middle school students, 5 teachers, and families of students in each participating country.

By engaging these diverse groups in open discussions, the sessions provided qualitative insights that offer a good understanding of the digital landscape in schools.

Highlights from the Focus Groups

Participants shared experiences and challenges with digital tools at school, home, and work. Discussions explored:

  • Digital learning experiences and the extent of digital tool usage.

  • Key skill gaps, such as confidence with online research, email usage, and cybersecurity awareness.

  • Obstacles in digital education, including lack of infrastructure or training.

  • Support needs, like tailored training and accessible resources.

  • Digital inclusion concerns, particularly for rural and disadvantaged communities.

Interactive activities, including scenario-based discussions, role-playing, and group brainstorming, ensured a lively exchange of ideas and practical insights. The focus group sessions concluded with participants completing structured questionnaires to document their perspectives.

School partners have compiled the findings into comprehensive focus group reports.

The reports will feed into the broader objectives of the DigiGap project, helping us co-create strategies to strengthen digital skills and inclusivity in education.
