Improve new key competences (in general) and digital competences (in particular) among educators

DigiGap’s four partner schools across Spain, Greece, Romania, and Poland conducted in-depth focus groups with students, teachers, and families to explore their digital education experiences and needs. The results, recently published in a summary report, offer powerful insights that will directly inform the forthcoming Digicompbook educational resource.

Over 385 individuals took part in these sessions:

  • 209 students

  • 37 teachers

  • 139 family members

The participating schools included Carlos V School (Spain), Moraitis School (Greece), NSH Technological High School (Romania), and Primary School in Podłopień (Poland).

Common Challenges Across Borders

The report identifies recurring themes:

  • “Click-and-scroll” skills often mask deeper gaps in critical digital literacy

  • Connectivity issues, especially in rural areas, slow learning

  • There is untapped potential to empower parents as digital allies

  • Students and families alike remain concerned about online safety

What’s Next?

Sixteen priority topics (ranging from AI productivity to digital well-being and e-banking) were distilled from the findings. These will shape the Digicompbook, a user-friendly resource tailored to real needs expressed during the focus groups.

Key Takeaway

“Students want to create, teachers want to innovate, and families want to keep everyone safe.”

This work confirms that advancing digital skills in schools requires not only updated infrastructure but also inclusive, community-based support. DigiGap is committed to delivering tools that bridge this gap.
